I can’t prove it, but I believe that running or walking in something that sparkles can actually help make you go a bit faster and maybe even go a bit further or a bit longer that you would if you were just wearing normal clothes.
Wearing something that sparkles or glitters when I walk or run not only makes the running more fun, but it is great motivation for me to get out and move more. It is as Peter Pan noted, all you needed (in this case to fly) was
Just a little bit of pixie dust.
Unfortunately, my daughters are now at that age (both teens) where they don’t want me to embarrass them like running in tutus. I have to find more subtle ways to sparkle and dazzle when I run and even just casually out running errands, like wearing a sparkly baseball cap.
Over the past two years, I’ve wearing one of my many colors of sparkly, sequin baseball cap (like the turquoise one on the Amazon model) has become my signature looks activity and out-and-about looks when we are just out walking around, so I can look fabulous and feel marvelous as I am out moving.
Note: I originally found these sparkly, sequin baseball caps and visors on sites for cancer patients and chemotherapy hats, but they have now become popular with many others, including those wanting to sparkle at Run Disney and other races and events.
DIY Running Pages on the Costume Detective
Since many running events (at least the ones involving women and daughters) are now becoming popular ones to run in costumes, I’m doing my detective work looking for ideas and patterns to make fun, functional and fabulous running clothes and accessories.
To get started, we’ve got the first tutorial on how to Make a Sparkly Running Tiara for Less than $12.00. Also on the page are versions for making a running tiara for less than $10.00 and for less than $16.00, bargain pricing compared to the pre-made ones.
Wearing a sparkly costume, hat or sport tiara when you are being active is great motivation to move more.
Be radiant as you run,
Sparkle as you stride,
Wow them as you walk, but mostly
Feel marvelous as you move.
